Marcus To's Green Lantern pencils

Anyone who managed to get their hands on the free comic that came with Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters were no doubt as pleased with the book as I was.
What else, but excellence, could be expected from Marcus To? He drew the Red Robin figure that I've borrowed for the site's latest title banner as part of his stellar run on Red Robin (coming to a close issue #26).
He has posted the pencils to the GL: RotM book on his facebook page. Here are some of my favourites:

Seriously DC, get him on a book! An Earth One graphic novel would be excellent, perhaps Wonder Woman, The Flash or Green Lantern.

Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters preview

Disappointed that the flight seems to be completely segregated. GL should at least hover (like in Justice League Heroes), if not perform flying attacks around enemies.
Anyway, here is a preview from Newsarama:

While Marvel Entertainment has spread the wealth a bit this summer with new movies and games in the X-Men, Thor, and Captain America franchises, Warner Bros. has their hopes for multi-media resting solely in the ring-wielding hand of Green Lantern (though Batman will lend his help later in the year with Arkham City). With the first feature film in the space-bound franchise coming in June 2011, Warner Interactive will also be releasing a video game featuring familiar sites, faces, and voices, though it won't be directly based off the film.
Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters takes the movie's look and feel and adds the mythology of the android enforcers known as the Manhunters. The Guardians of Oa once thought emotionless machines were the best force to police the universe, but the lack of empathy proved a hinderance to, well, life. Now the Manhunters are launching a full-scale assault on Oa and the little blue men, and it's up to the Green Lantern Corps to save the day.
We got to sit down with the game and play an example level of two of the gameplay modes - ground-based melee combat and a more "dogfight" style flight-based combat.
The melee on the ground is fun and exciting from the start. It's similar to many other third-person action games, with combinations of quick, heavy, grab, and air strikes. Of course, you have that will-powered ring on your finger, so just punching and kicking would be silly. With the holding of R2 or L2 on the PlayStation 3 controller (RT or LT on Xbox 360), you pull up a menu of four constructs each, corresponding to the four face buttons on the controller. We saw Missile Pack, Mace storm (a twirling melee attack), Gatling Gun, and Baseball bat to start, and later unlocked Ring blast after just one level-up. There are 12 constructs total that can be unlocked throughout the game, so eventually you'll have to pick your eight favorites for the quick-access presses. Many of these were chargeable as well, and all of them provided big, fun hits. Hitting a Manhunter robot with the big green energy baseball bat isn't just another melee attack, it sends them flying across the screen.
Where some games suffer from giving you these powerful attacks then not enough energy to perform them, that's not the case here. While it can't be every attack, there is plenty of recharging opportunity, from defeating enemies to supercharging at lantern points. That means you actually get to use your superpowers and feel like the hero you're controlling on a regular basis, not just on certain occasions. The big green hand grab helps fill in the slower spots, and becomes useful at not just defeating enemies, but solving some basic puzzles, too.
The game is co-op, with one player controlling a Ryan Reynolds-voiced Green Lantern Hal Jordan, and the other controlling his GL mentor Sinestro. Both characters play the same way, but have their own unique one-liners and quips to change things up ever so slightly. Teamwork becomes key in both puzzle-solving and some of the massive blitzes of enemies you'll face. Overall, melee was easy-to-control, with fun to use powers and a good variety of enemies, even at this early level. The one downside is the complete lack of the ability to fly in these stages. you can't hover, you can't do much in the air at all besides juggle melee combos. However, to sate that a bit, there are the flying levels.
The flight levels are more like controlling a jet than a human, as you soar through space and shoot down enemies. If you max out your overcharge meter and activate it, you'll in fact create a green jet construct around your character for a limited time, giving you much heavier firepower. Controls here are just as easy to handle; if you've played a flight game, you can play this with ease. The level I tried was short, with a typical "gain boss with hot spots to shoot at" toward the end, but if all the game's controls are this tight, this should provide a nice respite between the running, jumping beat-em-up that will serve as the bulk of the game.
When the game premiers next month, it looks like Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters looks like it has the willpower to defeat the "movie game" curse, but whether that means it will be the greatest Green lantern or just another rookie poozer remains to be seen.
You can wield the green light starting June 7, 2011 on all major gaming platforms

Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters trailer

I can't view this on my iPhone, so you'll probably see it before me, but here is a link to the first trailer for the Green Lantern videogame.

Update:

Looks pretty cool! Hopefully there will be lots of construct variation. Doesn't look like it will be amazing, but it definitely looks fun. If you're a fan of the comics (like me), then you'll be getting this regardless of whether its amazing or just okay.

"Warner and DC Entertainment have just released the first trailer for Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters.

According to Warner: "In the videogame players will utilise over a dozen constructs and take flight across the deepest parts of the Universe to restore intergalactic order by wielding the ultimate weapon: the Green Lantern power ring."

The action adventure title is scheduled for release on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and DS in conjunction with the big screen Green Lantern movie this summer."

Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters and Animated Series

Update!:

The Official Facebook page for the game is now up. There isn't much there at the moment, but I'm sure that will change in the next month or so.

Original Post:

Even though there is next to no information on how the game will actually play, I am looking forawrd to this.

I think it could work, even if the gameplay is as simple as this, it will be enjoyable.
By the end of Justice League Heroes you could play as John, Kyle and Hal, so it was almost like playing a Green Lantern game anyway!

I have previously posted this on arkhamcity.co.uk:
8th Jan:
Found this article, nothing really new except for the cover art.
HMV have listed the game on PS3, Xbox360, Wii and NintendoDS, due for release 3rd June 2011.

3rd Jan:
This game was announced a while back, but here are some of the first real details:

Here is some cool information that Warner Bros. released about the video game that will accompany the release of The Green Lantern. Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters is planned as a multi-platform game set for release on June 1st. Ryan Reynolds' voice and likeness will be used for the game, but at this time it is not known if the other stars of the film will be in the game.

Here is what Warner Bros. said about the games storyline:

"An android race, originally created by the Guardians of the Universe to serve as the first interstellar police force. The Manhunters became more obsessed with administering punishment than serving justice, forcing the Guardians to dissolve their ranks. The few Manhunters that survived fled into exile and the Guardians founded a new elite police force called the Green Lantern Corps and armed its members with specially crafted power rings. Now the Manhunters are back and out for revenge, readying their forces for a war against the Guardians and the Green Lantern Corps. Faced with destruction, the Corps is looking to you as the newest recruit, gifted but cocky test pilot Hal Jordon, to protect peace and preserve justice."

Here is what you will need to do to combat the Green Lanterns' mortal enemies:

Master the Ring: Wield the Green Lantern Power Ring to create a spectacular range of “hard-light” constructs including a gatling gun, giant fists, and much more, all of which can be linked together to form an endless number of combinations.
Stand Together: Join forces with a friend to play as Hal Jordan or Sinestro to battle the Manhunters, with the ability to drop in or out at will.
Take Flight: Dodge, blast, and destroy legions of enemies as you soar across the universe in battles of intergalactic foes."

Also, very excited about the CG animated series that starts in November. Bruce Timm, creator of the Emmy award winning Batman the Animated series is involved. It's going to be good. The test footage is entertaining - how often is test footage entertaining?!?
They have said that it will focus on Hal, but there may be opportunities for Kyle and the other Earth-based Lanterns to show up as well later down the line. The main villians? Atrocious and the Red Lanterns.
