Detective Comics in October and Marcus To draws Huntress

Newsarama have a preview of October's Detective Comics #2 and the very exciting reveal of a Huntress mini-series!

Batman sets his sights on the Gotham Ripper, who in turn has his sights on Batman. Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne explores a budding romance with television journalist Charlotte Rivers, who's visiting Gotham City to cover the gruesome slayings - while also trying to uncover Bruce's own mystery. But time is running out as both Commissioner Gordon and Batman work to uncover the true identity of this new serial killer.

DC has also exclusively revealed the Levitz-written, Marcus To and John Dell-drawn The Huntress five-issue series that also debuts in Month 2 of the DCnU. The cover to issue #1 (to the left) is by Guillem March.

Paul Levitz has something of a history with the character, as he's credited with Joe Staton and Bob Layton for co-creating (in 1977) the Helena Wayne version of the Gotham City-based vigilante (daughter of the pre-Crisis Earth Two Batman and Catwoman). That version was killed during 1985's Crisis on Infinite Earths, her existence erased from the new post-Crisis unified timeline, and she was replaced with the similarly-looking Helena Bertinelli version, now the daughter of a Gotham crime boss.

This 2011 revamp Huntress apparently has Italian roots, as DC reports she heads "home" to Italy to embark on a life-defining mission in this series, suggesting the DCnU version of the Huntress will likely remain Helena Bertinelli. It appears she will also continue to have ties with the Birds of Prey in the upcoming months.

And be on the lookout for more October 2011 solicitation previews from the DCnU Batman family later on Monday and presumably other "families" of the New 52 every day this week leading to the usual reveal of the full monthly solicitations early next week.

Look out! By the end of this hot new miniseries, the Huntress will have the largest price on her head in DC Universe history.
What will the Huntress do that warrants such a death mark? And who puts it there? The jaw-dropping events will be revealed as the Huntress heads home to Italy and embarks on a mission that defines her life. Don’t miss out, because this story will tie in to upcoming events in BIRDS OF PREY!

Here is a sketch of Helena Bertinelli and a comission of Huntress and batgirl (both by To) to whet your appetite:

Marcus To's Green Lantern pencils

Anyone who managed to get their hands on the free comic that came with Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters were no doubt as pleased with the book as I was.
What else, but excellence, could be expected from Marcus To? He drew the Red Robin figure that I've borrowed for the site's latest title banner as part of his stellar run on Red Robin (coming to a close issue #26).
He has posted the pencils to the GL: RotM book on his facebook page. Here are some of my favourites:

Seriously DC, get him on a book! An Earth One graphic novel would be excellent, perhaps Wonder Woman, The Flash or Green Lantern.
